Inspired by the iconic Wee White House in Glencoe, Highland Hideaway captures a solitary cottage nestled beneath sweeping Highland mountains, winding water, and endless skies. Officially known as Lagangarbh Hut, this former 18th-century crofter's cottage sits at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mòr, one of Scotland's most recognizable and photographed mountains. For generations, it has stood quietly against the vast landscape surrounding it.

What drew me to this scene was the contrast between the scale of the Highlands and the simplicity of the little white cottage. The mountains rise dramatically behind it, the water winds through the valley, and yet your eye is immediately drawn to this small refuge standing alone in the landscape. There is something comforting about its presence—a reminder that even in wild and untamed places, there can be shelter, warmth, and a sense of home.

Painted in watercolor, the loose washes and layered colors allow the landscape to remain atmospheric rather than literal.
